For almost 30 years, I worked in the corporate world, spending my career developing people, supporting teams, and helping others grow.  I genuinely loved what I did.  Watching people build confidence, develop new skills, and achieve things they didn't think were possible gave me a real sense of purpose.  I never imagined I'd be looking for something different.

Then one day, my role was made redundant.

Like many people, it made me stop and think.  I questioned everything.  Had I done something wrong?  What was next?    But once the initial shock settled, I found myself reflecting on something  much bigger.  

I realised that no matter how hard I worked or how loyal I was, my time, my income, and my future were ultimately in someone else's hands. That was a difficult realisation, but it also became the turning point I didn't know I needed.

Rather than rushing to find another role and stepping back on the same path, I decided to pause.  I wanted to create something different.  I wanted more choice over how I spent my time, more flexibility in my life, and the opportunity to build something that reflected my own values rather than someone else's expectations.  

It wasn't about escaping work.  I actually enjoyed working. It was about creating a life where work supported the life I wanted to live-not the other way around. 

Around that time, I came across an online opportunity that really resonated with me.  What attracted me wasn't just the flexibility or the ability to work remotely.  It was the opportunity to continue doing something I had always loved-helping people grow-while finally investing in my own personal growth.    

I'd never owned a business before, and I wasn't an expert in the online world,  but I discovered that I didn't need to have all the answers to get started.  

I simply needed to be willing to learn.

That's how Freedom by Design began. 

Looking back, I realise the biggest transformation wasn't learning new skills or building something online.

It was learning more about myself.

For years I had poured my energy into everyone else-my work, my colleagues, my team, my family-and I don't regret that for a second.  But somewhere along the way, I'd forgotten to invest in myself.

Personal development challenged the way I thought.  It encouraged me to question beliefs I'd held for years, to see situations from different perspectives, and to become more aware of the stories I was telling myself about what was possible. 

I realised that growth isn't about becoming someone different. 

It's about becoming more of who you already are.

The more I learned, the more I realised how much opportunity exists we're prepared to step outside our comfort zone.  Things that once felt impossible slowly became achievable.  Challenges become lessons instead of roadblocks.  I stopped worrying so much about having all the answers and become more focused on continuing to learn.

Freedom by Design isn't just the name of what I'm building, It's the life I'm creating.

Creating a different future didn't require me to change everything overnight, it started with making better use of the time I already had.

Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, I began taking small, consistent steps, I've come to realise that meaningful change rearely happens all at once. 

It happens through the choices we make every day.

Those small decisions have added up to something much more meaningful-they've changed the way I think about time, success, and what really matters.

Today, I'm still learning.  I'm still growing.  I'm still discovering what's possible.
